COVID-19 Update October 22, 2020

We are patiently awaiting anything to be announced on the new stimulus package that continues being negotiated. If a bill is to pass by November 3, a deal must be reached this week, according to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Both sides agree on the need for another round of $1,200 stimulus checks and more enhanced unemployment benefits, as were found in the CARES Act, which expired at the end of July. Hopefully we will have something in place very soon.…

COVID-19 Update October 20, 2020

New Orleans Mayor Cantrell led the city into Phase 3.2 over the weekend, easing restrictions for live entertainment, bars with/without LDH food permits, and outdoor stadiums/arenas. On Sunday, Caddo Parish reported 117 new cases for Saturday and Sunday, the highest number in the state. Jefferson Parish had the second-highest number, with 92 new cases. COVID-19 Update October 14, 2020

In the years that follow this one, 2020 will become an adjective that replaces the words ‘unfortunate’ and ‘unprecedented.’ This week, multiple European countries have reported more COVID-19 cases per capita than the U.S. France has declared a state of emergency, imposing a curfew from 9pm to 6am beginning Saturday. COVID-19 Update October 9, 2020

Today, the US Small Business Administration (SBA) in consultation with the Treasury Department released a new, simpler PPP loan application for any loans under $50k. If anyone needs updates on any other states,…

COVID-19 Update October 7, 2020

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards warned that Hurricane Delta was expected to make landfall as a Category 3 storm on Friday night or Saturday morning, and the entire state in its possible path. So much of the Gulf Coast is still recovering from the other major hurricanes this year, and we pray for all of those having to endure this incredibly active season. The White House’s ever-shifting economic relief agenda lurched in a new direction Wednesday as Treasury Secretary Steven…

COVID-19 Update October 5, 2020

The latest COVID-19 news surrounds the President and First Lady testing positive for Coronavirus late last week. Trump has just been discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center this evening. It’s not clear what steps have been taken to prevent further spread within the White House, as US press secretary and several staff members have also contracted the virus. We continue to pray for all of those affected by this terrible pandemic and for a vaccine to arrive soon.…
