Welcome to steamy August 2020!

Although we have come a long way since March, there is still so much uncertainty around this COVID-19 pandemic. For those of us who have been through Katrina, the adversity has taught us to take things one day at a time, staying vigilant and prioritizing safety. Remember to have faith, and continue to do what you can, asking for help wherever you need it.

We sympathize with those struggling with childcare, as schools continue to go back and forth on how and when they will start back up again. Nothing cement coming out of DC about the pending legislation; however, a federal judge in New York’s FFCRA ruling invalidated USDOL’s definition of “health care provider,” which raises questions about paid leave eligibility.

Elon Musk, famed entrepreneur and technology expert, continues to push the envelope as he begins testing an insurance product for Tesla drivers in California. He declares the insurer will be “revolutionary” and invites actuaries to join his cause. We can all benefit from the success of this venture, especially if he discovers a better way to price auto insurance.
